Sunderland manager David Moyes has said that people appreciate his honesty and that he doesn’t want to kid people after accusations of negativity, the Chronicle reports.
The Scot admitted earlier on in the season that the side could be in for another battle to avoid relegation – which seems to have been borne out by the early results which has seen the Black Cats pick up two points from their opening seven games.
Moyes is quoted in the Chronicle, saying: “I could come out singing and dancing and saying everything is fine, but the truth is that I haven’t had a lot to talk positively about.

“That’s a fact.
“I could come out that way, but I would rather tell the truth.
“I don’t want to kid people.”
Certainly the results haven’t been great and there would be a lot of bewilderment if Moyes was positive following some of the displays that have been served up so far this season. There may be one or two positives to take out of certain games, but there isn’t much to be positive about when your sides is rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

Given the early stage of the season when Moyes came out and made comments about the club being in another relegation battle, at a time when the transfer window was still open, one wonders what kind of message it sent out. It seemed to suggest a lack of ambition or optimism, even if the Scot was honest about the things that were coming his way.
Many are wondering whether this is the season that Sunderland’s poor start finally catches up with them.
