David Moyes gave his first press conference as West Ham manager on Wednesday afternoon.
The former Manchester United manager replaced Slaven Bilic after the Hammers made a poor start to the season.
This is Moyes’s sixth club as a manager. While he was a massive success at Everton, he failed miserably at United, Real Sociedad, and Sunderland.
West Ham currently find themselves 18th in the Premier League table with only nine points on board.
Moyes has been hired on a short-term basis, that is till the end of the season. However, the former Everton manager said that he is happy with the contract being given to him.
He has already taken charge of his first session with his players at the club’s training ground in Rush Green, and has outlined his ambition for the rest of the season.
Moyes has been very practical with assessment. He says that his only aim is to take the team out of this present situation and move upwards in the league table.
Commenting on his biggest challenge this season, Moyes said as quoted by Football London (16:19 pm), “My biggest challenge is to get the team ready and the games come thick and fast. I am well aware we have a lot of tough games coming up“
“We have to get ourselves clean sheets, get bedded down. Let’s see if we can find a way of stopping conceding goals. I am a supporter as well and have an opinion about people who go there, people are entitled to their opinion. I want to bring winning football first off before we talk about style.”
Moyes also revealed that Stuart Pearce could be joining him as assistant manager.
“In talks with a couple of people, Stuart Pearce one of them. Hopefully I will have something settled by the end of the week,” Moyes added.
