Sunderland manager David Moyes addressed the media ahead of his side’s trip to Swansea City in the Premier League.

Sunderland manager David Moyes received a fitness boost in the form of Fabio Borini, with the Black Cats boss telling his pre-match press conference that the Italian is close to a return, the Chronicle reports.

The side also saw the return of Sebastian Larsson and Jan Kirchhoff to the side for the second half of last weekend’s 2-1 win over Leicester City – which made it three wins in four matches for Moyes’s side.

However, they were dealt another injury blow with Duncan Watmore being stretchered off with a serious knee injury.

Moyes told reporters, as per the Chronicle: “Losing Duncan is really bad news for us and terrible news for the boy because he’s been doing so well.

“When the swelling is down he will have his operation and hopefully we can get him back as soon as possible.”

The Black Cats travel to Swansea City this weekend and will look to make it four wins from five games – and lift themselves out of the relegation zone in the process.

Though the Swans are currently bottom of the league, Moyes still thinks they have a very capable squad at their disposal.

He added: “The key is to win the game tomorrow. We want to build on what we’ve done in recent weeks. We have a lot of belief right now.

“Swansea have been a really good team for many years. I still look at them and think they have a very good squad.”

“(Gylfi) Sigurdsson, (Jack) Cork and (Leroy) Fer are very good midfield players. At home they will want to get them on the ball.”

Moyes also touched on Bob Bradley’s side showing they can score goals in their incredible 5-4 win over Crystal Palace nearly a fortnight ago, but have shown their vulnerability at the back.

Both sides are in need of a win this weekend, with Sunderland keen to keep their recent resurgence going.
