West Ham United boss David Moyes isn’t sure about moving to sign Arsenal target Youssouf Fofana this summer.

Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana is on West Ham United’s radar but David Moyes isn’t 100% sure.

That is according to The Guardian, who claim that West Ham are looking at a number of midfield targets.

That was always to be expected after selling Declan Rice with the Hammers potentially looking to replace him with multiple signings.

Fofana is one player West Ham have identified but it’s claimed that Moyes isn’t entirely convinced by him.

The reason is that Moyes wants to focus on signing players with Premier League experience, having also looked at Joao Palhinha and Conor Gallagher.

Moyes seemingly doesn’t want to risk putting an import into the West Ham side in place of Rice.

The England star leaves a huge hole in the West Ham midfield and putting somebody unfamiliar with the Premier League straight into that role could be a risk.

Maybe Moyes can be won over but it looks like West Ham’s interest in Fofana is hanging in the balance.

Other Premier League clubs are looking at Youssouf Fofana

If West Ham don’t move for Fofana then they could see him join a Premier League rival.

French newspaper L’Equipe, as relayed by Get French Football News, suggested late in June that Arsenal and Newcastle United fancy Fofana.

Newcastle’s interest may have waned a little since signing Sandro Tonali but Arsenal may be worth keeping an eye on.

Thomas Partey could yet leave Arsenal and the Gunners would surely move for another holding midfielder this summer.

Fofana fits the bill having played as a holder for Monaco whilst also featuring as a box-to-box player at times.

The 24-year-old has picked up 10 France caps and featured for Les Bleus at the World Cup in Qatar.

Fofana seems ready for a Premier League move if it comes, and Arsenal may just keep an eye on West Ham’s plans here.
