The 2-0 defeat against Wolves on Saturday made things a lot worse for West Ham United. David Moyes’ side are 17th in the league table, level on points with 18th placed Bournemouth and just one above 19th placed Aston Villa.
The Irons need to dust themselves quickly but sadly for them, things only get a lot harder. West Ham travel to Tottenham Hotspur for a London derby on Tuesday where a win is an absolute necessity.
The Hammers weren’t really awful against Wolves. They just needed that extra spark from their central midfield but sadly, it was nowhere to be found on the day.
Mark Noble was as industrious as ever while Tomas Soucek did his defensive duties fairly well for most parts of the game. However, the duo contributed very little in an attacking sense which made Wolves’ lives a lot easier.
The game against Spurs tomorrow will be just as difficult, if not more. Jose Mourinho will get his side organised brilliantly to counter West Ham’s front four.
Moyes will need to be brave with his team selection against Tottenham. A creative outlet from central midfield will give West Ham an added boost in attack and Jack Wilshere is the man to provide that.

Wilshere’s quality on the ball could unlock Tottenham’s defence
The former Arsenal man has struggled with injuries yet again this season but when fit, he has the quality to be one of the best players on the pitch.
Wilshere has fantastic vision and has the ability to get out of tight spaces quite easily. His passing skills will help the Hammers penetrate the ball through an organised Tottenham side and that could make the difference against Mourinho’s men on Tuesday.
Whether the Englishman will be able to last the whole game without an injury will remain the biggest concern. However, it is time for Moyes to take risks and he will just have to hope that Wilshere’s Arsenal connection helps him push on for a win against the other club from North London on Tuesday.
