Sunderland fans will be hoping that their club can bring in some quality signings this month.
The Black Cats are deeply entrenched in a relegation battle, and David Moyes discussed his hopes of bringing in some new faces this month, although he was rather downbeat about his chances of signing genuine quality, as quoted by the Northern Echo.
Sunderland currently sit 19th in the league, and are in the midst of a mini injury crisis, with bodies falling left right and centre.
The need for numerous additions is clear for everyone to see, although January has always been a notoriously difficult window for clubs to bring in the players they want.

And Moyes hammered home that notion, with a frank admission concerning the quality of players that the Sunderland fans can expect to see come into the club this month, as quoted by the Northern Echo:
“I think I’d be kidding you on if I told you that the players we’re going to bring in in January will make a big difference. First of all, we probably couldn’t get that level of player. Secondly, we probably wouldn’t have the finances to do that. I think to suggest that the players we’ll be bringing in will make a big difference wouldn’t be correct.”

The only real positive from Sunderland’s season so far is that, despite their poor showings on the whole, they are only one point adrift of 17th placed Crystal Palace.
They will, however, have to start performing on a more consistent basis sooner rather than later, as they look to accumulate the points required to preserve their Premier League status.
