West Ham United could quickly cash in on Javier Hernandez this month.
According to reports from The Mirror last week, West Ham United are prepared to cash in on striker Javier Hernandez during this month’s transfer window.
The Hammers looked to have landed a coup over the summer when they signed Hernandez, forking out £17million to land the Mexican international as Slaven Bilic thought he had landed the goalscorer West Ham needed.
After 59 goals in 157 games for Manchester United and 39 goals in 76 games for Bayer Leverkusen, Hernandez had been a prolific goalscorer elsewhere, but it hasn’t quite worked out at the London Stadium.
Hernandez has hit just four goals in 17 Premier League outings this season, and has started just twice since David Moyes’ appointment, leading to rumours that he could be sold this month.
Moyes didn’t particularly fancy Hernandez at Manchester United, so his bit-part role at West Ham shouldn’t be a shock, and fans may be somewhat exasperated by what is becoming a recurring theme.
Hernandez’s swift exit would be just another case of West Ham signing a player before quickly realising their mistake and offloading them almost as soon as possible, highlighting the club’s struggles in the transfer market.
Simone Zaza, Havard Nordtveit and Sofiane Feghouli were all signed in the summer of 2016 but had been moved on before the start of this season, whilst Robert Snodgrass only signed last January before being loaned out to Aston Villa in the very next transfer window.
West Ham’s scattergun approach in the transfer market is churning out mistake after mistake, and seeing a player leave so quickly in Hernandez would be a case of deja vu for Hammers fans, and supporters will be desperate to see David Sullivan and co rectify their errors and bring in players for the long-term, rather than chopping and changing with such frequency.
