West Ham manager is escaping criticism.
There is a lot being said about West Ham right now, with co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan the subject of furious fan protests.
The West Ham fanbase has also been vilified in the media for the small minority who ran on the pitch and interrupted the weekend game at regular intervals in the second half.
The one man who is getting off lightly thanks to the furore over the London Stadium is manager David Moyes.
The protests did not help West Ham’s performance at the weekend, but Moyes’ side never looked like beating Burnley from the first whistle.
A 3-0 home loss to the Clarets is the latest stain on Moyes’ recent managerial record, which has taken a battering in recent years.
When Moyes took over he steadied the ship, but right now they are in a real relegation dogfight.
The 3-0 home loss cannot be pinned on the fans, the team were inept.
Just a week earlier they were beaten 4-1 at Swansea City, and before that 4-1 at Liverpool.
They have just one win in six games and have conceded 11 in their last three.
It’s relegation form and David Moyes appears to be unable to do anything about it.
Moyes’ Sunderland side suffered relegation last season, and he could have the unenviable record of getting two teams sent down in consecutive campaigns.
But remarkably the pressure appears to be off the Scotsman.
That is down to the owners currently taking the majority of the flak. Deservedly so, but Moyes should bear responsibility too.
