West Ham boss David Moyes is happy with the team spirit.
West Ham United are yet to win a game under their new manager David Moyes. And that run could extend to another week, as they face league leaders Manchester City on Sunday.
The Hammers are heading into this match on the back of a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Everton in the midweek. With that defeat, they are now winless in their last seven Premier League games.
Despite the string of poor results, Moyes is happy with the team spirit within the squad. He says that the biggest take-away from his first three games is that there has been willingness from his players to make a marked improvement.
City are in a tremendous form at the moment, and it is hard to see West Ham getting a positive result from Etihad on Sunday.
Moyes admits that there is “less expectation” against City, but at the same time, believes that Pep Guardiola’s side are not invincible.
The confidence is low within the Hammers, and Moyes needs to get them back to winning ways. In the end, it is the result on the pitch that matters.
“I’m focusing on the players here. We have to get a winning team from what we’ve got in the squad,” said Moyes in his press conference, as quoted by the club official website.
“I was unhappy with the performance the other night, but the spirit is fine. I need them to stand up and be better but overall I think they’re big enough in here to know they need to do better.
“When I came in there was a worry about a lack of confidence. I think the players got over a big part of it against Leicester. I thought we started frightened against Everton and didn’t try to take any initiative. The players need to find a way of getting on the front foot.”
