Sunderland are currently bottom of the Premier League table.
Sunderland manager David Moyes has insisted to the Mirror that he has the heart for the battle facing him in the North East.
The former Everton and Manchester United manager took charge at the Stadium of Light in the summer, replacing Sam Allardyce when he left to take charge of England.
He has since endured a disastrous start to his reign, going eight games without a win with their latest defeat coming at the hands of Stoke City last weekend.
It means he is already under pressure, with bookmakers making Moyes the favourite to be the next manager to lose his job.
He is not willing to give up easily, though, insisting he has the heart for the fight ahead of him and his team.
“I definitely have the heart for the battle,” Moyes told the Mirror. “When I joined the club, it wasn’t because I expected us to be away from where we were.
“I think now every game is a big game for us. Every one becomes nearly a must-win situation already – each becomes a cup final that we have to try to win from now until the end of the season.”
It remains to be seen if Sunderland can turn around their poor start and avoid another relegation battle this season.
The loss to Stoke was arguably their worst to date, with Moyes’ side failing to show any of the fight that he seems to have.
It left them four points from safety already and they will need to start picking up wins soon or Moyes could find himself out of a job sooner rather than later.
