The West Ham United forward has been mightily impressive over the past few months.
West Ham manager David Moyes spoke to reporters ahead of his side’s clash with Chelsea today, and talked up the quality of Marko Arnautovic, although he did hint that the Austrian needs to works harder in training if he is to get even better, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 28-year-old joined the Hammers from Stoke City in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £24 million, and despite initially struggling to settle into life in east London, he has firmly established himself as one of Moyes’ most important players.
Arnautovic has chalked up nine goals and three assists in 24 Premier League outings thus far for West Ham, with all of those coming in his last 13 appearances.
His fine form has helped his side separate themselves from the bottom three, but they are by no means safe from the threat of relegation just yet.
If they are to have any chance of forcing their way inside the top 10, Arnie will have to be at his very best, and Moyes told reporters how the Austria international will have to work harder in training if he is to reach another level, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“I think Marko can get even better. I think his training can improve – Marko is a really good player and I still think he can practice more and improve more. If he works on the small things and still looks to improve, he could become an even better player than he is already.”
If Moyes is right, and Arnautovic does have the ability to improve further still, £24 million will begin to look like nothing short of an absolute bargain.
