Javier Hernandez has just four goals to his name since signing for West Ham United.
Hernandez has not scored in any of his last seven Premier League appearances and he has failed to break into Moyes’ starting line-up with any regularity.
Moyes has handed Hernandez just one start in the league since taking charge, but the Scottish boss insists that he believes that the Mexican is a quality striker.
“The form of Marko Arnautovic and Antonio at the start has made it difficult for Chicharito and he was injured when I first arrived,” Moyes said.
“He is a really good player, he thrives on things in and around the box but sometimes we haven’t had the service to him.”
Hernandez was actually sold by Moyes the last time the pair worked together, when they were at Manchester United.
The 29-year-old’s future at West Ham has fallen in to doubt lately, with some suggestions that he could be set to depart this month emerging.
Hernandez could be required to start for West Ham tomorrow, though, as Moyes’ side look to continue their march up the Premier League standings.
The Hammers are now in 15th place in the top flight table, and take on Huddersfield Town tomorrow.
