Marko Arnautovic scored his first goal for West Ham United in their victory over Chelsea.

David Moyes, Manager of West Ham United looks on prior to the Premier League match between West Ham United and Chelsea at London Stadium on December 9, 2017 in London, England.

David Moyes has admitted to West Ham United’s official website that it is tough getting Marko Arnautovic and Michail Antonio in to the same team.

Arnautovic and Antonio both started for West Ham against Chelsea, and the pair caused problems.

But Moyes claims that starting the pair on either flank is simply too much of a risk, which means Antonio has to play up-front, if the Austrian international is selected.

“I was asked after Saturday’s game how I best use Marko Arnautovic if everyone in the squad is fit,” he said.

“It’s a tactical jigsaw puzzle which I will have to make before and during every game we play.

“If we play with three at the back, as we did against Chelsea, it’s going to be difficult to play with Michail Antonio wide on the right, to play Arnautovic wide on the left, because it would mean we will be 3-4-3, which can be too attacking, particularly against the top sides.”

Moyes’ decision to pick Antonio as a striker, and have Arnautovic in a supporting role certainly paid dividends at the weekend.

Arnautovic scored his first goal for the Hammers since his summer move with a fine finish, which set Moyes’ side up for the victory.

Moyes has had to wait a long time to pick up three points at West Ham, but his side’s performance against Chelsea was highly encouraging.

West Ham are still in the relegation zone as things stand, but another win in midweek over Arsenal, could take them out of the bottom three.
