David Moyes has emerged as shock second favourite to be Everton’s next manager, hours after the Scot left West Ham United (Sky Bet).

West Ham confirmed on Wednesday that they have parted company with Moyes, who spent 11 years as Everton boss before leaving for Manchester United.

And a return to Goodison Park could be on the cards, with the 55-year-old as short as 3/1 to succeed Sam Allardyce, who was dismissed earlier in the day.

That moves Moyes ahead of early contenders Paulo Fonseca (9/1) – who is said to have held talks with West Ham on Monday – and Louis van Gaal (11/1), behind odds-on favourite Marco Silva (2/5).

Silva was targeted by Everton before Big Sam’s December arrival, but was refused permission to leave then club Watford.

And the Portuguese is again claimed to be the Toffees’ number one target, although reports suggest that Watford’s ongoing grievance with Silva could complicate proceedings.
