Sunderland are currently sat at the bottom of the Premier League table, with David Moyes’ side struggling.
David Moyes has told the Sunderland Echo that he wants to see his Sunderland side play more on the counter attack.
Sunderland have had the chance to have a two week break from competitive action, with the FA Cup going on this week.
The Black Cats have, therefore, travelled to New York to try and develop their team spirit and to iron out any faults within their play.
And Moyes has hinted that he could look to change to a style which means his team breaks with more pace than they have been in recent weeks.
“We may have to play a little bit on the counter-attack and play quite fast football,” Moyes said.
“We spoke to the players about it and I think they understand. “We’re trying to get more balls in the box, more people in the box. It’s the only way we’re going to score goals.
“As well as, say, Adnan or Fabio and Jermain, we’re trying to get some of the midfield players further up.
“Ndong got himself a goal [at Selhurst Park], albeit from outside the box.
“We’re having to really try and find a way.”
Moyes is under pressure to make sure that his tactical switch works, as Sunderland need to improve.
The Black Cats are currently sat at the bottom of the Premier League table, with time running out for them to rescue themselves.
Sunderland need to finish the season strongly, if they are to make it out of the bottom three.
When Moyes’ side return to action at the weekend, they face a tough test with a match against Everton at Goodison Park.
