Steven Gerrard has been appointed the manager of Ibrox club Rangers, who will aim to challenge Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic.

Liverpool legend Gerrard have been appointed as the new manager of Rangers, who have finished third in the Scottish Premiership for the past two seasons.
Celtic have won the league title in Scotland for the past seven years, and the Hoops will be favourites to clinch the championship next season as well.
Former Celtic central defender Moyes, who managed big clubs such as West Ham, Everton and Manchester United in England, does not see Rangers challenging Brendan Rodgers’s side next season.
Moyes has also predicted that it will take Rangers at least one more season to stop Celtic.

“Being successful at Rangers, at this stage, is all about stopping Celtic as quickly as possible,” Moyes told The Sunday Post.
“Brendan and his players have just completed seven titles on the trot, and are clear favourites to make it eight.
“They will take some stopping and I can’t imagine Rangers being equipped to stop them within 12 months. It is likely to take at least one more year after that.”

Challenging Celtic
Rangers have a decent squad, and one suspects that it will be better by the start of next season.
However, Celtic have the best squad in Scotland, and there is no doubt that they have most of the best players in the Scottish Premiership.
For Rangers, the 2018-19 campaign will be about closing the gap on Old Firm rivals Celtic and giving them a run for their money.
