Everton are said to be considering selling Wayne Rooney to DC United.
Former Everton boss David Moyes has told Football.London that Wayne Rooney still has more to give.
Rooney has been linked with a move away from Everton in recent times, with the striker being lined up by DC United.
The American side are keen to bring the England international striker across the Atlantic in the summer and Everton are thought to be considering going through with the deal.
And Moyes has suggested that if Rooney does leave Everton then DC United will still be getting an excellent player.
He said: “Well Wayne has been a great player and probably one of the best players to grace the last era of football, I really enjoyed him at Everton – he was really young then – I really enjoyed him at Manchester United, he helped me a lot then.
“So, I’ve got to say, if he chooses to go, DC will be getting a good player, he can play in a couple of roles, he’s a brilliant goalscorer and I still think he has got more to give.”
Moyes was Rooney first manager at Everton, when he broke through as a talented teenager.
Rooney’s future at Goodison Park is now thought to be largely dependent on whether Sam Allardyce stays on.
If Allardyce departs, Everton may well keep hold of England’s record goalscorer and offer him the chance to stick around.
Rooney has played regularly for Everton this term, but his goalscoring form has slowed down massively in 2018.
