David Moyes defends Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino enjoyed a much-needed win last night when Tottenham Hotspur ran out comfortable winners against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

David Moyes has defended Mauricio Pochettino and stated that he is the first Tottenham Hotspur manager to bring stability to the football club in a ‘long time’.

Whilst Spurs will still be on a high from their thumping victory against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League last night, things haven’t been rosy in the garden for the North London club.

For the first time since Pochettino walked through the doors of the North London club, questions have been asked about himself, his players and the performances of a team as a whole.

But speaking to The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalKSport (22/10/19 at 7:20 am), Moyes expects some departures from Spurs and defended and praised Pochettino.

“I think Pochettino is the first manager for a long time that has brought stability to Tottenham Hotspur,” Moyes told TalKSport. “I think prior to that, Tottenham they were always changing their manager, they weren’t quite sure who it was going to be and there was always talk.

“I think he has brought a great period to Tottenham. I do think Tottenham will be looking to move one or two players on [in January] and try to freshen it up and for some reasons, those players haven’t gone. Tottenham have always had a reputation of not paying as much money [in wages] as other clubs.”

Whilst Spurs will be desperate to add a trophy to Pochettino’s current reign, this period has without a doubt been their strongest since the Premier League formed in 1992.

From the style of football to Champions League football, Pochettino has worked wonders at Spurs and is now perhaps at a crossroads with the club.

More than likely, that will be dealt with by the certain players parting ways and leaving either when the transfer re-opens in January, or next summer when there is a much clearer picture as to where the club is at.
