West Ham could reportedly be without Gianluca Scamacca to face Arsenal due to injury, with David Moyes sweating over his attacking options ahead of the Premier League restart.
According to the Daily Mail, the Italian international is a major doubt for West Ham for their Boxing Day clash against the Premier League leaders, with Scamacca rolling his ankle in a mid-season friendly against Fulham earlier this week.
Scamacca joined West Ham from Sassuolo this summer and has slowly begun to find his feet in English football, with the 23-year-old striker bagging six goals in all competitions for the Irons. However, the Italian’s latest problem could be an issue.
As per the report, Scamacca is set to have his fitness assessed ahead of West Ham’s trip to north London, where the attacker’s injury could become a cause of concern for Moyes, with Maxwel Cornet also a doubt for the Hammers.

Lauded as ‘surreal’ by BBC Sport pundit Steve Sidwell, Scamacca would have been quite the weapon to have against Arsenal later this month. Yet this latest update is the last thing West Ham wanted to hear given how big the festive period will be.
Indeed, West Ham sit a disappointing 16th-place in the Premier League standings after two years of incredible development under Moyes. And results in the next few weeks will crucial for the east London side in their quest to return to the top, with Scamacca’s injury only making this challenge even more difficult.
Scamacca injury could throw West Ham’s season into chaos

West Ham’s season, for many, is already being viewed as a write-off, with Europe and cup competitions the only thing that could save Moyes from an embarrassing league campaign. Yet Scamacca’s injury could throw many of these potential plans into doubt.
After all, the Italian international is finally growing into his own in the Premier League with West Ham, and Scamacca’s injury could set the forward back by some distance if the problem turns out to be worse than first feared.
