Diafra Sakho could have a golden opportunity to impress at West Ham United in David Moyes’ first match against Watford at the weekend.
Sakho appealed to Slaven Bilic during the Croatian boss’s time in charge, suggesting that he wanted more game time, but he was often overlooked.
The Senegalese forward was regularly used as a substitute, but he was starved of starting chances at the London Stadium.
But with Javier Hernandez out and after a change of management over the international break, Sakho could finally be given the chance he has been waiting for.
Sakho scored for Senegal in the recent international break, meaning his confidence is high. And with Hernandez out for three games, he should have a chance of showing Moyes that he is ready to start regularly.
Moyes does have other options – in the form of Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew – but Sakho looks set to play a prominent role at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
And if Sakho can have a meaningful impact on the game, he may finally establish himself as a permanent starter for the Hammers again.
