Sunderland are set to take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow evening.

David Moyes has told the Sunderland Echo that he was planning on starting both Victor Anichebe and Jason Denayer against Arsenal tomorrow evening.

Sunderland are set to travel to London to take on the Gunners in their penultimate match of the campaign.

And Moyes’ plans have taken a blow, as both Anichebe and Denayer have been confirmed to be out injured by Moyes at his press conference earlier today.

Speaking earlier in the week, Moyes had said to the Sunderland Echo, that he needed both Denayer and Anichebe to be available.

The Scot said: “I hope not. I’m needing both of them for the games.

“We’re away to teams where we might need to play Jason as a centre-back because I need his speed at the back. We need Victor as the only real targetman we have to play into.

“They’re both really important so I hope they’re not (out for the season), but I’ll find out how they are.”

Sunderland's Jason Denayer sustains an injury

With Sunderland’s injury problems racking up, the Black Cats could now be forced to play the youngsters against Arsenal.

The Black Cats go into the contest on the back of a 2-0 defeat against Swansea City.

Sunderland were heavily criticised for showing a lack of desire against Swansea

Moyes’ side have little to play for other than pride against Arsenal, as their relegation has already been confirmed.
