West Ham nearly got a positive result against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, but a late goal from David Silva sealed the tie in the league leader’s favour.

The Hammers took an early lead on the stroke of half-time when Angelo Ogbonna scored from a header.

City responded strongly after the break, and Nicolas Otamendi equalized with a predatory finish in the 57th minute.

The home side kept applying pressure, and finally got the winner when David Silva converted Kevin de Bruyne’s pass with an acrobatic effort.

The victory meant Pep Guardiola’s side established an eight-point lead over Manchester United, and equaled the record of winning 13 Premier league matches in a row.

West Ham can take great pride from the performance and effort they put in, and one player who particularly impressed was goalkeeper Adrian.

The 30-year-old made a tremendous save to deny Silva’s deflected effort in the first half. He also made some fantastic saves to deny Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling in the second half.

Moyes said in his press conference that Adrian “played well”, and that he did a pretty good job.

“Adrian played well. I can’t think off the top of my head when Man City missed a sitter. Defensively, we did great. Adrian made some great saves but we done a pretty good job in not letting them get too close to goal,” said Moyes in the post match press conference, as quoted by Football London.
