Sunderland manager David Moyes says he has been given no indication that club owner Ellis Short is looking to sell up as he plans ahead for the January transfer window, The Telegraph report.
The Black Cats find themselves in familiar territory in the early stages of this season, struggling at the foot of the table as Moyes’ reign starts with no wins from nine Premier League matches.
It has become increasingly obvious that Moyes struggled to bring in his intended targets during the summer, and the team’s poor start to the season reflects their inability to strengthen a squad light on real quality.

As a result, question marks have been made over the future of club owner Ellis Short yet Moyes has addressed the issue, telling reporters how he has been given no indication of a potential takeover.
“I haven’t spoken to Ellis about January yet, but I get no sense from him that there is going to be any takeover. But I’m due to speak with him about January,” Moyes explained to The Telegraph.
Sunderland need to add to their squad in the January transfer window if they harbour hopes of preserving their Premier League status, though Moyes admits his side must be in a position to compete.

The Scot added: “It will be a key month. What we need to make sure is that we are in the game come January. We’ve got to be in a position to compete.”
The Black Cats’ miserable start to the Premier League camapign continued at West Ham United on Saturday as a late Winston Reid goal condemned them to a disappointing 1-0 defeat.
The result leaves Sunderland bottom of the table with just two points from nine games, and due to Stoke City’s 2-0 win at Hull City now five points from safety.
