West Ham United boss David Moyes has been highly critical of his side, just like when he was at Sunderland.
David Moyes has made the same criticism of West Ham United as he did of Sunderland last season.
Moyes was criticised for being far too negative with his comments in the press during his time with Sunderland.
And, following West Ham’s defeat to Swansea City, he has made a startling admission again.
Moyes claimed that West Ham are not good enough at the minute to win any of their upcoming fixtures.
“They have been told this was miles and miles away from where I’m going – or they are going,” Moyes claimed to Football.London.
“If they are going to play like that, then there’ll be none of us here. The players need to show a wee bit, but I think they are good enough to do that but they definitely all need to up their levels, because this wouldn’t be good enough to win the games we’ve got coming up.”
Moyes made similar comments when he was in charge at Sunderland.
The Scottish boss claimed that Sunderland’s showings were miles short of the quality required.
“Ultimately, you have to have good players on the pitch, and at the moment we’re not getting enough good players out there,” Moyes said to the Northern Echo last season.
“Do we have to improve players or get better ones? I think both. We are working, but I think we know we’re going to have to improve on what we’ve got to give ourselves a chance.”
While Moyes may have just been honest about West Ham’s recent performances, it is rare to see a manager so open and frank with his comments.
Moyes was hardly blameless in Sunderland’s relegation last term, and his negativity was often criticised by supporters at the Stadium of Light.
Moyes has done a credible job at West Ham so far, but the pressure is starting to build.
West Ham have not been able to escape away from danger, and currently sit just three points above the drop zone.
