Aston Villa will be looking to extend their four-game winning run when they host Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

David Moyes has fired warning shots to Aston Villa’s promotion rivals by claiming that no-one will want to play Dean Smith’s side in the play-offs because of the size of the club.

The Midalnds outfit have won four games on the bounce in the Championship which has seen them move up to sixth in the table.

Following the conclusion of the international break, domestic football will return and Villa will be hosting Blackburn Rovers on home soil.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (26/03/2019 at 8:55 pm), Moyes explained why Villa will be a very feared opposition if they do finish in the play-off places at the end of the campaign.

“I think Dean Smith has suddenly got them on a really good run which has put them in a position,” Moyes told BBC Radio 5 Live. “I don’t really think anybody would want to play Aston Villa in the play-offs because of the size of the club, you know what they have at their disposal, so they’re doing a really good job now in getting them back up there.”

The return of Jack Grealish from injury has played a massive part in Villa’s change in form, with the 23-year-old lifting the mood amongst the team and fans after a number of bad results.

But Grealish isn’t the only one producing the goods for Smith’s side. John McGinn is an underrated threat in the middle of the park, while striker Tammy Abraham isn’t shy of scoring goals and Jonathan Kodjia will always be a threat from the bench.

Either way, the race to finish in the top-six is set to go the wire and Villa will want to better their play-off final defeat to Fulham from last season.

There are eight games of the season remaining and Villa still have to play the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City, Leeds United and Norwich City.
