The Black Cats are currently bottom of the Premier League table.
Sunderland manager David Moyes
David Moyes has conceded that the Sunderland job has been tougher than he expected it would be, but insisted that he still has the hunger to do well at the Stadium of Light, the Daily Mirror reports.
The Black Cats have made a hugely disappointing start to the new season. They sit bottom of the Premier League, having taken just one point from their opening six games.
Crystal Palace came back from 2-0 down to beat Sunderland 3-2 in their last game
And Moyes has admitted that it has, so far, been a harder task trying to turn things around than he was anticipating.
“I still want the job. I still want to make it the best I can possibly do. When I came in, I wanted an exciting challenge and that hasn’t changed. It’s more difficult than I thought to begin with, I will say that,” he said, as reported by the Mirror.

“This club can’t get a period of stability or identity, where players can come and say, ‘I’m here for a project’. It just feels like a revolving door – and that needs to stop somewhere.”
In fairness to the former Everton boss, he took the job midway through the summer so was perhaps not given enough time to work on a squad that only guaranteed their top flight survival on the penultimate day of last season.
Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe
And while the results have been disappointing, there have been some positive signs along the way. As well as putting up a good fight against Manchester City on the opening day, a late goal denied them a victory against Southampton while they also put themselves 2-0 in front against Crystal Palace in their most recent game.
And if they can put together a good performance for the entire 90 minutes, it may not be too long before they get the huge confidence boost of that first league win.
