Sunderland have won three of their last four matches.
David Moyes has told the Sunderland Echo that he agrees with Sam Allardyce that Sunderland’s defence need to start keeping more clean sheets.
Allardyce constantly stated his desire to help Sunderland tighten up at the back during his time in charge at the Stadium of Light.
And Moyes admits that he is still trying to find the formula to help Sunderland avoid conceding so regularly.
“I think we always have a chance, but we have to defend well,” Moyes said. “I remember Big Sam saying about the need to keep clean sheets. I’m on the same wavelength because we have forward players who can win us games.”
Sunderland have certainly improved in defensive situations lately, but they did not manage to keep a clean-sheet in their last fixture.
Sunderland looked set to shut out last season’s champions Leicester City, but a late Shinji Okazaki strike set up a nervy finish.
The Black Cats still held on to claim a 2-1 victory, though, which means that they have won three of their last four matches.
Sunderland have now climbed off the bottom of the Premier League table, and to within a point of safety, with optimism rising at the Stadium of Light.
