David Luiz and Emi Martinez took to Instagram tonight to react to Gabriel Martinelli going off injured during Arsenal’s League Cup defeat to Manchester City.

This is what Luiz wrote on his Instagram story to his Arsenal teammate regarding his injury: ‘Praying for you bro’, added with a heart and praying hands emoji.

Whilst Aston Villa’s goalkeeper Martinez simply put on his own story: ‘Gabi’ added with crying emojis.

After being in the treatment room with a long-term injury, this was Martinelli’s first start for Arsenal in many months and he didn’t disappoint during his time on the pitch.

The £6 million teenage star [Telegraph] assisted Alexandre Lacazette for Arsenal’s equaliser and he was a thorn in Man City’s defence on that left-hand side.

But just before the half-time break, as Martinelli was put through on the left flank, the opposition goalkeeper Zack Steffen came steaming out to try and clear the ball, and whilst he got the ball, he also got the Brazilian on his shin.

He was clearly struggling as he tried to continue before the half-time whistle, and minutes before the restart, he was on the deck again and clearly upset as he was substituted.

Arsenal fans will be hoping it’s not too serious because the tricky winger has provided a much-needed and missing spark to this Arsenal side.

Plus, the Gunners face London rivals, Chelsea, at the weekend, a game where Martinelli scored that brilliant solo goal last season, so they’ll be hoping he can be fit and firing for that one.
