Tim Sherwood’s decision to bring on Jack Grealish against West Brom has hailed as a game-changing decision by former Aston Villa goalkeeper David James.
The ex-England international used Twitter to praise the 58th minute substitution, with Charles N’Zogbia the player withdrawn.
Grealish added real energy and quality to the Villa side, which eventually saw them rewarded with a 2-1 victory.
Grealish, just 19, showed glimpses of his much touted potential, creating one goalscoring opportunity and landing one shot on target as he sought to help Villa edge in front.
The win was Tim Sherwood’s first one as boss, and his early show of trust in Grealish carries on where he did at Tottenham by giving chances to promising young players.
It was the youngster’s 10th appearance in the Premier League this season, but all have come as substitutes. While logical not to over-expose him too early, with a little pressure eased in the relegation fight, and Grealish having a positive effect on the team, it won’t be a surprise to see him in the starting line-up against the Baggies when the two teams face off in the FA Cup this coming weekend.
