Leeds United signed McCarron from Carlisle United earlier this summer.
Dean Holdsworth has revealed that Carlisle United managed to squeeze more money out of Leeds United before selling Liam McCarron.
McCarron moved to Leeds for an undisclosed fee earlier this summer, which Holdsworth, the Carlisle director of football, has admitted will come out in the club’s books.
And the Cumbrians will be due an even greater amount if the teenager is successful at Elland Road.
Speaking to Carlisle’s official website on Thursday evening, Holdsworth said:
McCarron is expected to spend the coming campaign in Leeds’ successful Under-23s side.
But he will no doubt take inspiration from the likes of Jack Clarke, Ryan Edmondson, Jamie Shackleton and Leif Davis, all of whom were called into Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team squad at one stage or another last season.
He will, however, have to compete with both Clarke and Shackleton, as well as Helder Costa, Jack Harrison, Ezgjan Alioski, Tyler Roberts and Mateusz Bogusz for a senior spot.
