David Henen has claimed on his Instagram story that he could return to Everton in the next couple of seasons, after leaving Goodison Park this summer.

The 22-year-old failed to earn a new contract with the Merseyside club, ending his three-year spell with the Toffees in a period where he was not afforded a single senior appearance.

Instead, the former Olympiakos and Monaco forward went on loan to Fleetwood Town and became a regular in the club’s Under-23 side – clocking up 52 Premier League 2 appearances during his time at Everton.

Asked whether he would consider rejoining Everton, Henen said “I will be back” and reckons he needs a couple of seasons away from Everton to prove that he is worthy of a chance at Goodison Park.

Football website Read Everton claimed back in May that Premier League rivals Southampton and relegated outfit West Bromwich Albion were in talks over a move for the Belgium under-19 international.

A move back to Belgium could also be on the cards, but Henen is yet to make a decision on his future as the transfer window begins to hot up.
