Everton are reportedly close to the signing of Idrissa Gueye from Paris Saint-Germain in a move that will see him return to Goodison Park after leaving three years ago – and David Henen has reacted on Twitter.
Gueye, 32, spent three years at Everton between 2016 and 2019 – clocking up 108 appearances for the Merseyside club. He moved to PSG, where he has added another 111 outings to his career – winning six trophies.
But he has moved down the pecking order and Everton are winning the race to land the 94-time Senegal international. Gueye has been linked with a return to English football, with reports claiming Tottenham want the £17m-rated man.

However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Everton are closing in on a move to sign Gueye – with the clubs organising a deal this week, a deal which will be permanent. It will see Gueye return for a third Premier League spell.
Ex-Everton attacker Henen has responded to the news on Twitter. He played alongside Gueye for two years before leaving in 2018. Now playing for Belgian side Kortrijk, Henen responded to the news Gueye is set to return.

Everton need a midfielder. They do have options, in the likes of Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Tom Davies and Andre Gomes. But Gueye is a step above in terms of holding midfielders.
Allan and Gomes have been linked with exits. Gueye would be a superb signing despite his age. He knows Everton, the fans, the club and at 32, he has plenty of experience but still a lot of life left in his legs. A superb addition.
