Pedro Caixinha has made a mixed start to life at Ibrox since becoming Glasgow Rangers boss.
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha
David Healy has suggested that those judging Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha at the moment need to remember that he is currently working with a squad that he has not been able to make any changes to so far, the Daily Record reports.
Caixinha has made a mixed start to life since arriving at Ibrox, with four wins coming in his first eight games in all competitions. However, the two Old Firm defeats during his tenure ensured that the honeymoon period came to an end fairly soon after his arrival.
But while some may be expressing some doubts about whether Caixinha is the right man to lead the squad forward, former Gers striker Healy has urged anyone questioning the Portuguese to give him time to make some changes.
“All managers need time. For Pedro he was never a Rangers player or played in the Scottish league so it will take him time to adapt and he needs the opportunity to do that,” he said, as reported by the Record.
Rangers lost back-to-back Old Firm games
“The results have been mixed and the performances have been mixed but bear in mind he hasn’t even had a transfer window yet so he is managing somebody else’s team right now. He has to be given a chance to assess what is there and make decisions.
“Rangers have given this man the job to try to bring the club the success they have enjoyed down the years.”
There is no question that it would be extremely harsh to write Caixinha off before he has had the chance to make use of a full summer window and pre-season, as Mark Warburton could not even get the best out of the current squad despite the fact that it was the side that he largely put together.

However, that is not to say that the boss does not deserve some criticism for the way that the Light Blues competed in the two Old Firm games.
They barely turned up for the Scottish Cup semi-final and appeared to not learn their lesson the following week when they were beaten 5-1 at Ibrox. And while Caixinha may argue that the lack of quality within the squad meant that he could do little between the games, the supporters would certainly be forgiven for asking questions of their manager after the manner of the back-to-back defeats.
