Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic reportedly want Hibernian’s John McGinn.

Celtic have been linked with John McGinn, with Leeds United and Steven Gerrard’s Rangers also reported to be interested in the Hibernian midfielder.

Ibrox club Rangers want to sign McGinn from Hibernian in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Record, while The Scottish Sun has credited Leeds in the Championship in England with interest in the 23-year-old midfielder.

According to The Scottish Sun, Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic, too, want the Scotland international, who is reportedly valued at £5 million by Hibs.

Former Celtic midfielder and manager David Hay has backed the Hoops’ reported interest in the youngster, and believes that he would move to Celtic Park.

Hay wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times: “Midfielder is the strongest part of their team right now but I feel John McGinn will be a really good acquisition if he signs for Celtic this summer.

“Reports suggest Brendan Rodgers is weighing up a bid for the player, who is also rumoured to be interesting Rangers and Sunderland.

“Everything depends on Celtic confirming a bid and Hibs being prepared to sell him but I think it is a possibility and I think the boy would come.”

Good singing for Celtic?

McGinn is one of the best midfielders in the Scottish Premiership, and there is no doubt that the Scotland international would enhance the current quality of the Celtic midfield.

While playing for the Hoops would be a massive step-up for the youngster, he would also have to work very hard in order to establish himself in the first team at Celtic Park.

With Rangers and Leeds also (reportedly) interest in McGinn, Celtic are not going to find it easy to convince the former St. Mirren to make the switch to the Glasgow giants this summer.
