Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele is making the headlines at the moment.

David Hay has written in The Glasgow Evening Times that Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele is a phenomenal talent.

Dembele has been making the headlines in recent days for a remarkable achievement at the tender age of 13.

The teenager made his debut for the Celtic Under-20 side against their Heart of Midlothian counterparts on Monday evening.

Celtic won the match 3-1, but Dembele was making all the headlines after the game.

Former Celtic midfielder and manager Hay has offered his opinion on the 13-year-old.

“Karamoko Dembele, Kaddy, as he is better known has been well within my sights for a long time,” Hay wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times. “The kid plays in the same Celtic under-14 team as my grandson, Vincent, so I have been watching Kaddy for the last couple of years.

“And I do have to say that the youngster is something special. These days YouTube can give these players a platform before they have laced up their boots but in the flesh he really is a phenomenal talent.”

“He has a natural balance about him but he is like a throw-back too,” added Hay. “He is an old-fashioned dribbler and dare I say it – I am never one for the comparisons – but there is a touch of the Jimmy Johnstone’s about him with the way he moves with the ball at his feet, that low centre of gravity. Even at this age you can see it. Few people get the ball off him.”

Dembele seems to be a talented and gifted young footballer, and playing with senior players in terms of age is only going to help him grow and develop.

It is remarkable that the youngster is considered good enough to play with players six or seven years older than him.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if the teenager made his first-team debut for Celtic way as one of the club’s youngest ever players, in two or three years time.

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 19 points from seven matches, four points clear of second-placed Aberdeen with a game in hand.
