West Ham United suffered an embarrassing defeat in midweek.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has admitted on Twitter that he’s still shocked by the midweek defeat by Oxford United.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side were dumped out of the Carabao Cup after losing 4-0 away to the League One side.

Tottenham Hotspur went out on penalties after losing to a League One two outfit a day before but, in terms of scoreline, West Ham’s defeat might be the shock of the round.

The Hammers go to Bournemouth this afternoon in an effort to bounce back, and Gold claimed on Twitter that he’s still trying to get over what happened in midweek.

Yes, it was a horrendous defeat, but if West Ham bounce back today it’ll be forgotten about.

The Hammers’ goal this season is to breach the top six in the Premier League, not win the League Cup, and if they follow up their win over Manchester United last week with another against the Cherries then it’ll go a long way toward banishing the memories of Wednesday.

Kickoff today is scheduled for 3pm.
