David Gold has posted on Twitter that he is ‘delighted’ at West Ham’s summer transfer business.

The Hammers co-owner thinks David Moyes has added ‘strength and ‘experience’ to the side with four new recruits.

Whilst many expected Jesse Lingard to be one of the names West Ham brought through their doors this summer, it just wasn’t meant to be for the Manchester United playmaker.

Instead, Kurt Zouma, Nikola Vlasic, Alex Kral and Alphonse Areola were the players chosen to bolster the squad.

This is what Gold tweeted to West Ham supporters about their new signings last night:

Perhaps the West Ham fans could argue that another striker was needed because the workload is going to be tough on Michail Antonio.

Nobody is going to start ahead of the hard-hitting centre-forward because he had an outstanding campaign last time out and he is ripping it up already after three games.

But that’s when life becomes difficult in trying to find someone who would play a back-up role to the 31-year-old.

And whilst it has been an outstanding start for Moyes this term, the real test will kick in when they start their European games.

That’s when West Ham’s squad will be stretched and more will be asked of those on the bench and out of the matchday squad.

There’s no doubt that Moyes needs luck along the way, but if he can maintain his core players, then there’s no doubt that the East London outfit should go a long way in the Europa League.
