West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has written on the club’s official website that the return to full fitness of Aaron Cresswell will help the team.

Cresswell returned to action on Thursday when he featured in a training ground match for West Ham. The 26-year-old defender played 50 minutes against the Hammers’ PL2 side.

The left-back has missed competitive action so far this campaign due to a knee ligament injury he suffered during the pre-season game against Karlsruher.

West Ham co-chairman Gold is delighted with the recovery made by Cresswell, and has outlined the impact he could have on the team when he is available for selection in competitive matches.

“Talking of injuries, I am delighted that Aaron Cresswell managed to play 50 minutes in a practice game at the Club’s training ground on Thursday,” Gold wrote on West Ham’s official website.

“Aaron’s return to the first-team will give everyone a lift and is a bit of good news that we are looking for. He is an important player for the team and we need to start keeping some clean sheets again.”

Cresswell is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and is a key member of the current West Ham team.

The Hammers are struggling at the moment and currently find themselves third from bottom in the league table.

Slaven Bilic’s side will take on Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in the Premier League after the international break.
