West Ham United co-owner David Gold is no stranger to causing controversy on Twitter and he has been at it again.
West Ham fans have turned on the club’s owners this season with broken promises over spending on transfers, the London Stadium move, a lack of ambition and their very public profiles particular bug bears.
Persistent chanting for the board to sell up can be heard during games while a number of action groups have been set up by supporters.
David Gold has riled Hammers fans on a number of occasions with his actions on social media over the years from getting things wrong to voicing his often unpopular opinion on subjects such as the club’s academy prospects.
A brilliant 1-0 win over Chelsea last time out has lifted the spirits of supporters and raised hope of West Ham pulling away from relegation danger.
But Gold has been at it again on Twitter, endorsing criticism of a section of fans who have been holding the owners to account over their running of the club.
After beating Chelsea, a West Ham fan account tweeted: “Amazing, West Ham fans complained when we moved to the London Stadium that David Gold and Karren Brady would move us and then sell up… now they’re moaning at them for not doing that! Proof that West Ham fans will find something to moan about no matter what the situation!
“I can’t believe people still talk of Champs League football as a lie…It was an aim, a target, an ambition! Maybe it shouldn’t have been said but anyone who considers that a promise is deluded!”
And Gold retweeted the message to his 190,000 followers, endorsing the message which did not go down well with Hammers supporters.
