The Scotsman was appointed as manager of West Ham United on a short-term deal today.
The Hammers officially appointed David Moyes as their new manager today, and the club’s co-owner David Gold spoke exclusively to Sky Sports, responding to a question asking him if the Scot will be allowed to splash the cash during the January transfer window.
West Ham have made an abysmal start to their 2017/18 campaign, and currently sit precariously in 18th position in the Premier League table, after a woeful return of just nine points from the 11 league games that they have played thus far.
The east London outfit have won just one league game out of their last seven – a run that culminated in Bilic’s sacking, and they currently find themselves in a whole world of trouble, as they ponder their plight during the two-week international break.
Despite Moyes not being many Hammers fan’s first choice candidate for the job, they will have to back their manager, if they want their club to turn the corner when Premier League action resumes.
And David Gold told Sky Sports that Moyes will receive necessary backing, in his quest to guide West Ham away from the danger-zone:
“He will be telling us. We’ve got to give him a little time, he only arrived this morning. He will be telling us what he thinks we need. It wouldn’t be a lot. Let’s face it, we believed at the beginning of this season that we had the best squad of players for a decade. But no doubt he will tell us where the weakness is.”

Moyes’ first game in charge of the Hammers is a trip to Vicarage Road to take on Watford on November 19th, and a win will be of vital importance, if he is to endear himself to the club’s fans immediately.
