West Ham United moved into the top half of the Premier League table with an impressive 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Friday evening.
The Hammers have won just one of their previous 11 games heading into Friday’s fixture, and given that Spurs had won each of their previous nine Premier League games, many expected Tottenham to claim a win at the London Stadium.
However, Tottenham fell flat in their pursuit of the Premier League title, and it was West Ham who claimed the 1-0 victory, with Manuel Lanzini smashing home from close range after Tottenham had failed to clear the ball.
West Ham were good value for their victory, defending resolutely thanks to the likes of Jose Fonte and Winston Reid, whilst also causing problems at the other end, with goalscorer Lanzini dangerous throughout and striker Jonathan Calleri working hard.

The result guarantees West Ham’s Premier League status for next season, and the performance will serve as a major boost to manager Slaven Bilic, who is looking to keep his job after a disappointing season.
Bilic has had to cope with the club’s stadium move, a host of injuries, some poor signings in the transfer market and the departure of star man Dimitri Payet to Marseille in January, with Friday’s win arguably West Ham’s most complete and most committed display of the season.

After the final whistle, co-chairman David Gold took to Twitter to offer his view on the game, praising the performance from the players and the support from the fans, making it a special evening at the London Stadium.
Gold even added praise for manager Bilic, claiming that his tactics against Tottenham were ‘perfect’, offering his congratulations to the Croatian after a major victory for the Hammers.
