Nene came on for Alex Song in the second half of West Ham United’s 3-1 home defeat to 10-man Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has been singing the praises of Nene on the club’s official website.
The 33-year-old winger joined the Hammers on a free transfer last month and made his debut for the London outfit on Saturday.
The former Paris Saint-Germain star came on as a substitute for Barcelona-owned Alex Song in the 61st minute against Crystal Palace at the Boleyn Ground.
Gold was pleased with the performance of Nene in the Premier League clash and spoke highly of him in his blog on West Ham’s official website.
“I was pleased to see Nene make his debut as I think he will offer something different to our attack,” wrote the 78-year-old.
“It was just a real shame that his shot hits the post rather than the back of the net as who knows what might have happened had that gone in.”
Nene did indeed give a good account of himself in the 3-1 defeat to Palace, as the Opta Stats table shows:
