West Ham United beat Crystal Palace 1-0 on Saturday evening.
West Ham co chairman David Gold
West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has taken to Twitter to praise midfielder Pedro Obiang’s superb performance against Crystal Palace.
The Hammers went into Saturday’s London derby with Palace having won just one Premier League game in seven attempts, but claimed all three points in an action-packed encounter at Selhurst Park.
West Ham’s Pedro Obiang
Manuel Lanzini’s first-half goal proved to be the winner for West Ham, but they had to withstand pressure from the Eagles, with Christian Benteke missing a penalty before Aaron Cresswell was sent off for the Hammers.
Slaven Bilic’s men claimed a vital three points to move out of the bottom three, and his change to a 3-4-2-1 system certainly helped West Ham in claiming the win.
West Ham United’s Pedro Obiang
With Cheikhou Kouyate starting at centre back, Bilic went with Pedro Obiang in the heart of midfield alongside Mark Noble – and the Spaniard again caught the eye.
The 24-year-old, signed from Sampdoria in 2015, has endured something of a frustrating time in East London, starting just 11 Premier League games last season as his own fitness and the form of others kept him out of the team.

Now starting and proving his worth, West Ham fans have been impressed with his performances, prompting one fan to question co-chairman David Gold on Twitter about Obiang’s future.
Gold didn’t answer the question of whether West Ham will sell Obiang, but did claim that the midfielder was ‘superb’ against Crystal Palace, suggesting that he certainly has a role to play at the London Stadium.
