Aaron Cresswell was sent off during West Ham United’s match against Crystal Palace.
David Gold has reacted angrily on Twitter, after having time to reflect on the red card that Aaron Cresswell received during West Ham United’s match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Cresswell made his comeback from injury for West Ham at the weekend, and he made a big impact in the match.
The former Ipswich Town man set up his side’s goal – after crossing the ball in for Manuel Lanzini to convert – and helped the Hammers pick up the three points.
However, Cresswell was shown two yellow cards in quick succession, and was banished from the field in the 76th minute.
Both of Cresswell’s bookings were controversial. The left-back was first shown a card for diving, when it appeared that a Palace defender had made contact with him.
Cresswell then received his marching orders, after bringing down Wilfried Zaha, who had gone past him.
Zaha appeared to have bought the free-kick, but West Ham have no right of appeal against Cresswell’s suspension, as he received two yellows rather than a straight red.
And Gold has been left fuming by the decision, with Slaven Bilic’s options at left-back now looking short once again.
