David Gold has said on Twitter that West Ham United youngster Declan Rice has a “great future” ahead of him in football.

The 19-year-old has developed into a prominent Premier League defender at West Ham, making 12 appearances in the top flight this season.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 star reaffirmed the belief that he is a top young player with a very decent performance in the Irons’ 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Rice only celebrated his 19th birthday on Sunday, and Gold has lavished praise on the youngster.

Rice, who can also play defensive midfield, showed exciting hints of his potential after breaking into the Hammers’ senior side under Slaven Bilic last season and it seems like he’ll only get better and better.
