West Ham United co-owner David Gold has pleaded for fans to stay patient with injury-prone striker Andy Carroll.
West Ham United’s Andy Carroll is yet to feature this season
Slaven Bilic will have to make do without Carroll for their crunch match at Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow and for the forseeable future despite recent reports to the contrary.
The Hammers are sitting 17th in the Premier League table after a torrid start to the season, just one point above the relegation zone.
Slaven Bilic‘s side are struggling for goals and not one of his strikers has scored this season, 17 games in.
So when recent reports suggested Andy Carroll would make his latest injury comeback at White Hart Lane it was a big boost for Bilic and the club’s fans.
Carroll was injured in a Europa League qualifier back in July
According to the Mirror earlier this month, Carroll was set to be ready to return for the big London derby which kicks off a daunting run of fixtures for the Hammers who then face a double header against Manchester United at Old Trafford, a home game against Arsenal and a trip to Liverpool.
But the club has since confirmed the former Newcastle United man is still a way off a first team return.
It is nothing new for the club’s supporters who are well accustomed to seeing Carroll out injured.
He has played just 81 games in four and a half years in East London.
And supporters are finally starting to lose patience with the second most expensive ever signing.
But Gold has taken to Twitter to plead for patience even if he does understand where they are coming from.

“I know it’s frustrating… but the physios want to be absolutely sure he’s 100%,” Gold responded when asked by a fan whether Carroll would be back by the Qatar World Cup in 2022.
Despite Gold’s attempts to calm the building frustrations of the Hammers faithful, it appears even Carroll’s most staunch supporters are reaching breaking point.
Final straw? Patience wearing thin over Carroll
It is understandable too given the club’s current predicament and the fact supporters were initially told the striker’s latest injury – suffered in the Europa League qualifying game at Astra in July – would keep him out for between four to six weeks.
Supporters have been left bemused by a lack of progress in his recovery over four months on and latest reports are linking the former Newcastle United man with a move to China in January, as reported by the Express.
