Has the West Ham United striker suffered another setback?
West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has revealed on Twitter that stricken striker Diafra Sakho is unlikely to return until after the international break.
The 26-year-old has not kicked a ball for West Ham this season due to a back problem which has proved problematic for him since 2014.
On Fridau, Gold revealed that Sakho and £20.5 million signing Andre Ayew – who has managed only 35 minutes of football since joining from Swansea – could be back for the League Cup visit of Chelsea at the London Stadium.
But the Hammers supremo has now claimed that the Senegalese hitman is unlikely to be back in contention until the third week in November, after the international break.
By virtue of the fact that United have only managed 10 Premier League goals in nine games, it could be argued that Slaven Bilic could do with the option of Sakho.
The Croatian manager has had to contend with a depleted strikeforce due to injuries to Sakho, Ayew and Andy Carroll, placing a lot of pressure on loan signing Simone Zaza who, so far, has failed to live up to expectation.
