West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has taken to Twitter to admit that Saturday’s 5-1 defeat to Arsenal was one of the most disappointing results he’s experienced at the club.
The Hammers were hoping to kickstart their season against London rivals Arsenal, but were dismantled by the Gunners in another horror show at the London Stadium.

Mesut Ozil’s first-half strike had given Arsenal a 1-0 lead, before two fine solo goals from Alexis Sanchez extended the Gunners’ lead after the break.
West Ham did pull a goal back as Andy Carroll headed home after Dimitri Payet’s free kick had rattled the crossbar, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain slammed a long-range strike into the corner and Sanchez completed his hat-trick with a superb chip to seal a 5-1 win.

It was another embarrassing evening for West Ham, who lie just one point and one place above the relegation zone, and only three points clear of bottom side Swansea City as the Hammers face up to a possible relegation battle.
Manager Slaven Bilic is under huge pressure and sounded like a beaten man after the final whistle, and Hammers fans are unhappy, given that their move to the London Stadium has turned into a complete nightmare.

After the game, Hammers co-chairman David Gold took to Twitter to respond to messages from fans, and was asked for an apology after such a terrible evening.
Gold suggested that the 5-1 defeat was his one of his most disappointing moments since arriving at the club in 2010, and added that West Ham must do better in future to avoid similar humiliations.
