West Ham United co-owner David Gold has lifted the lid on what he described as a ‘career first’ during the crucial win over Swansea City.

Slaven Bilic, Manager of West Ham United instructs during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Swansea City at London Stadium on September 30, 2017 in London, England.

The Hammers have struggled for form this season with Slaven Bilic’s side suffering a hangover from last term.

Slaven Bilic’s side have won just two of their seven Premier League games so far and sit 15th in the table.

The Croatian is a man under pressure and speculation continues to link other managers with his job.

Carlo Ancelotti, Thomas Tuchel, Rafa Benitez and Roberto Mancini have been linked as potential replacements.

But Hammers co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold have refused to pull the trigger with Bilic in the last year of his contract.

Indeed many supporters blame the owners for West Ham’s struggles after broken promises in the transfer market since the big move to the London Stadium – and a net spend of just £4million.

The relief around the London Stadium when Diafra Sakho fired home on 90 minutes last time out was palpable.

But the game will stick in the head of Gold for another reason after he revealed a bizarre career first in a post on Twitter.

The businessman told how a supporter entered his and Sullivan’s private dining area, helped himself to a drink and then proceeded to to give them an ear bashing on all things West Ham for half an hour.

“(In my) 25 years in football, never had a supporter walk into the chairman’s dining room, order a glass of champagne and chat for half an hour,” Gold said on Twitter.

We don’t know what was said during the chat but it is surely one of the more unusual stories of the football season so far.
