West Ham United youngster Antonio Martinez has joined Oxford United on loan until the end of the season.
West Ham United owner David Gold insists that the decision to loan out Antonio Martinez to Oxford United was made by Slaven Bilic.
West Ham fans have been calling for Martinez to receive a chance in their first-team all season, as he has been an such impressive form for their development squad.
The 19-year-old has netted 10 goals in 11 games in the under-21 Premier League, and he has bagged a brace during his only performance in the EFL Trophy.
However, Martinez is still yet to make his senior debut for West Ham – despite their struggles up-front.
Bilic has now agreed to allow the Spaniard to join Oxford until the end of the season to get him more game time, but it is not a decision which has been particularly popular.
And West Ham fans have been left even more confused by the willingness to let Martinez leave, after he scored on debut for Oxford yesterday.
Martinez headed home against Newcastle Untied to help his new side into the fifth round of the FA Cup.
However, when Gold was asked why West Ham decided to loan out Martinez, the owner said the decision was one made solely by Bilic.
